Flu vaccination Update

Eligible cohorts for flu vaccination are based on the advice of the JCVI and Department of Health & Social Care.  Those eligible for NHS flu vaccine in 2024/25 are:

From 1 September 2024:

  • All children aged 2-3 years on 31st August 2024
  • Pregnant Women 
  • All children aged 6 months to less than 18 years in clinical risk groups

From 2 October 2024:

  • Those aged 65 year and over 
  • Those in long-stay residential care homes 
  • Carers 
  • Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • Frontline healthcare worker
  • Those aged 18 to under 65 in clinical risk groups 
    • a heart problem 
    • a chest complaint or serious breathing difficulties, including bronchitis, emphyseme or asthmatic 
    • a kidney disease 
    • lowered ummunity due to disease or treatment (such as long term steriod medication or cancer treatment)
    • liver disease 
    • had a stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
    • diabetes 
    • a neurological condition, such as multiple scleroisis (MS) or cerebral palsey
    • a problem with your speen, such as sickle cell disease, or you have had your spleen removed
    • you are severely overweight (BMI of 40 and above)

Please note that people aged 50-64 with no underlying health condition (as stated above) will NOT be eligible for a flu vaccination this year.

All school-aged children (From Reception to Year 11) will be invited for their vaccine as part of the School Immunisation programme.

Flu Clinic Dates

We will be running 2 weekend Flu Clinics (in addition to mid-week mini clinics) - these will be open access clinics and patients will not be required to book in advance. Sessions are as follows:- 

Sunday 6th October (all eligible groups) 

Saturday 19th October (all eligible groups)

Clinic Times on each weekend clinic will be 9am - 2:30pm

We ask that you DO NOT attend for your appointment if you or any members of your household have any symptoms of Covid-19 i.e. new and persistent cough, fever above 37.8.  Your appointment can be re-scheduled when you or members of your household are symptom free.

We will be operating a one way system throughout the practice on the day.

In house clinics will run within hours and can be pre-booked with members of our treatment room team, these appointments will be open to patients over 65 and those under 65 with an underlying health condition.
